Preston has a BS in Environmental Sciences from Western Carolina University with a focus in Hydrology and Sustainability. Preston has worked in sustainability since 2010 and led Haywood Community College in WNC to become the greenest community college in the NC system (58 overall), implementing various operational practices to reduce waste, produce alternative energy, and create a living laboratory experience for students and the community. Background work includes teaching Biodiesel production, local community engagement, and bringing cost savings to academic settings, with a focus on environmental protection.
Originally from Philadelphia, PA, Carolyn went to school at Allegheny College, located in Meadville, PA. While there she majored in Environmental Studies and minored in both Spanish and Global Health. While at Allegheny, she was a four year member of the Varsity Swimming and Diving Team, where her senior year she was voted Most Dedicated by fellow teammates. Also at Allegheny, Carolyn was a member of the National Service Fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega, and the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC). Carolyn is most excited to educate the community on the importance of Making Orange Green.
Data Analysis Coordinator
Shannon is the Data Analyst Coordinator for the UT Office of Sustainability that will be analyzing and interpreting the necessary data for our sustainability initiatives. She believes “data is only useful if you apply it”. With this in mind, she is excited to provide UT the data that can promote their future sustainability growth. Shannon has her BA in Environmental Studies with a Natural Science emphasis from Alfred University, where she was also very involved with the community and athletics. With her time at Alfred University, she was a member of the AU Softball team and an Empire 8, Regional, and Super-Regional Champion. Shannon was also the President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the event coordinating intern for the Career Development Center. Additionally, she regularly coordinated volunteer and fundraising opportunities. Shannon is excited to be a part of future successes here at University of Tennessee.
Josie Tunnell – Graphic Designer
Josie a second year Architecture student in the College of Architecture and Design, originally from Brentwood, Tennessee. She has a love for concerts, music, embroidery, crafts, big cities, traveling, plants and her growing collection of seventeen species as of right now, and of course all things design!
Rachel Heckle – Communications and Outreach
Rachel is a junior from Brentwood, Tennessee studying Natural Resources and Environmental Economics. On the weekends she likes to cheer on the Vols, hike with her friends and play guitar
Cecelia Cordera – Data Analysis Assistant
Cecelia a sophomore from Memphis, Tennessee. This is her first year at Tennessee but she is so far absolutely loving it! Cecelia is a Sustainability major, something else she loves. Some of her other favorite things to do are hiking, hanging out with friends, kayaking, and going to concerts.
