February Sustainability Champion: Katie Carpenter

Katie Carpenter was voted by the Committee on the Campus Environment as the February Sustainability Champion. This monthly award recognizes a UT faculty, staff or student who exemplifies what it means to “Make Orange Green”.

Katie is a sophomore majoring in Finance, with minors in Spanish, Environmental Studies, and Collateral in International Business. She is a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, where she serves as the environmental chair. Her passion about making her sorority and those around her are apparent in everything she does.

“Katie is Alpha Omicron Pi’s environmental chair and is so passionate about making our chapter more environmentally friendly. She stands up at every meeting and gives fun facts about the environment or highlights a member who has taken steps to help out the environment. She is [obtaining] a minor in environmental studies and I think she is going to do huge things for the world one day. She is always thinking of new ways our campus and sorority could be more environmentally aware. She is so passionate and knowledgeable about the environment and deserves to be recognized for all her hard work.”
