What You Should Know

Believe it or not, summer orientation sessions for incoming students are now over! UT Recycling and the Office of Sustainability had a great time meeting everyone and look forward to seeing you back in Big Orange Country in August! In case you didn’t see our tables at orientation, I’m going to give you guys some quick bullets of what you should know about making orange go green.

 

The Mug Project

If you use a reusable mug when purchasing fountain drinks, coffee, etc., you’ll receive discounts at participating Volunteer Dining Locations.

 

Eco-Vols

Eco-Vols are volunteers who represent sustainability and eco-living in residence halls. Look out for us in the fall!

 

Zipcar

Zipcar is the world’s leading car-sharing service. UT has two cars located on the corner of 20th Street and Andy Holt Avenue. It’s free to sign up!

 

UT Farmers Market

UT Gardens sponsors a Farmers Market every Wednesday from May to October. Check it out on the Ag. Campus from 4-7pm.

 

Sustainability Major/Minor

Sustainably is a relatively new, yet rapidly growing major at the University of Tennessee. With this major you will receive a detailed knowledge of society’s impact on the environment and the steps being taken to remedy these issues. A minor in sustainability is also offered!

 

Power Down Pledge

The Power Down Pledge is part of the Switch Your Thinking Campaign. This pledge is a promise to committee to energy-saving practices at UT. Sign it now!
